Toyota Research Institute Invests in Intuition Robotics

Toyota Motors has invested $14 million in Israel’s Intuition Robotics, a developer of social companion technologies, through its Toyota Research Institute.The company joins early A-round investors OurCrowd and iRobot as well as existing seed investors Maniv Mobility, Terra Venture Partners, Bloomberg Beta, Intuition said.

The investment marks Toyota’s first outside investment in robotic technology specifically for older adults. Intuition Robotics’ active aging companion, ElliQ, is being tested with the goal of helping older adults benefit from technology that’s intuitive and easy to use.
